The Balearic islands: Majorca, Minorca, Ibiza and Formentera
The archipelago has become a tourist emporium and the top tourist destination in the Mediterranean off the east coast of mainland Spain. The three main islands are Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca, there also two tiny and unspoiled islands of Formentera to the south of Ibiza, and Cabrera, off the southern coast of Mallorca. This islands enjoy mild weather, characteristic of the Mediterranean climate, while tinged with typical insular features such as high levels of environmental humidity.
It host an excellent combination of elegant summer resorts, coves and beaches, without detracting from the beautiful spots hidden inland on each of the islands. The Balearic Islands are declared a Marine-Land National Park.
The Balearics enjoy 300 days of sunshine, traditionally the water is drawn by windmills, whose outlines form a very characteristic feature in the calm landscape of these irrigation lands.
